Yohji Yamamoto ?

fashion designer based in Tokyo and Paris. Considered a master tailor, known for his avant-garde tailoring featuring Japanese design aesthetics
The real art is making people happy, but also asking questions about society.
Yohji Yamamoto

Yohji’ collections are predominately made in black, a colour which Yamamoto has described as “modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy – but mysterious. But above all black says this: « I don’t bother you – don’t bother me »

Yamamoto’s work has also become familiar to consumers through his collaborations with other fashion brands, including Adidas (Y-3), Hermès, Mikimoto, Mandarina Duck and New Era Cap Company; and with artists of different genres, such as Tina Turner, Sir Elton John, Placebo, Takeshi Kitano, Daniel Barenboim, Pina Bausch and Heiner Müller. and now Automobili Lamborghini.

When Mitja Borkert, Head of Design for Automobili Lamborghini, met Yohji Yamamoto at Paris Fashion Week in January 2020, he was impressed by the style resulting from the contrasting red and black in the collection presented, as well as by the outstanding craftsmanship embodied in each item of clothing. The correlation in brand values between Lamborghini and Yohji Yamamoto was clear and the collaboration was born.

Automobili Lamborghini e Yohji Yamamoto celebrano l’inaugurazione della Lamborghini Lounge Tokyo e dell’Ad Personam Studio

The inaugural exhibition sees a collaboration between Lamborghini and the eponymous brand of the world-renowned fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto: the lounge offers the perfect setting to present an Aventador S “dressed” by Yohji Yamamoto, alongside a cobbbrand capsule collection comprised of three unique pieces: mod coat, bomber jacket and hoodie sweatshirt.

Taking inspiration from the Paris collection, the Lamborghini Centro Stile imagined the iconic Aventador S as a canvas to paint.

The distinctive Gandini line characterizing each Lamborghini is still clearly visible in the Aventador, but dressed with selected patterns from the clothing collection: the same designs enhance the Aventador S’s interior.

I am delighted to see the realization of this collaboration, highlighting the uniqueness, the timelessness, and the abundant passion, which are characteristic of both our brands.”

Lamborghini’s iconic lines meet Yohji Yamamoto’s unconventional design. The grand opening of THE LOUNGE TOKYO witnessed the outstanding artwork and design by the eponymous brand on an Aventador S, celebrating Italian craftsmanship and connects it with the Japanese cultureuncensored quote:
